Ontario Educator's Conference 2019
Join 100s educators, administrators, and youth service workers from across the province on April 25th, 2019 at the OISE. This main day, the Ontario Educators Conference, will be on the 25th, with the LGBT2SQ+ Educators Conversation taking place on the 26th.
Conference participants will be given hands-on tools from educational professionals, lawyers, LGBT2SQ advocates, and academics to understand and recognize the issues faced by LGBT2SQ communities. The training will include a focus on supporting LGBT2SQ youth and educators; working with trans & gender-variant youth; and sharing best practices. Please note there will also be workshops in both French & English, from urban, rural & remote perspectives; and from Public & Catholic perspectives.
The current early bird registration pricing for this event is $75 and this price is effective until February 1st, 2019. Afterwards, the event will cost between $100-$150 based on a sliding scale. As this event is subsidized and incurs a cost to CCGSD, we are only able to refund registration costs for folks who could not attend for extenuating circumstances.
- Workshops, seminars and presentations, which specifically target Educators, Administrators and Staff to give them the practical tools to ensure a safer climate.
- Keynote Presentations.
- A community fair to connect participants to key resources.
- Programming is still under construction, but we hope to address topics including: legal rights of teachers, teaching Sex Ed. with limited support, external Sex Ed. resources, and integrating consent and equity into other subjects
The registration fee for this event, the Ontario Educators Conference on April 25th, is only $75. We encourage interested participants to seek funding from their teacher unions, or approach their administrator for money out of their school’s Safe School budget. This opportunity is an amazing chance at increasing one’s professional learning community, and witnessing what other schools across the province are doing to comply to Bill 13.
Participants must cover their own travel to the event.
